Kenya covers an approximate area of 580,000 square Kilometers and has a diverse culture with roughly over 52 tribes. It is located in Eastern Africa and bordering: Uganda, Tanzania, Somalia and Southern Sudan. The name Kenya was derived from Mount Kenya the second highest mountain in Africa. The climate is tropical along the coastal region, has a temperate inland and arid climate in the northern parts.

Why Kenya? The country has over the years proved to be one of the most visited places in Africa due to its magnificent wildlife. The famed big five, lion, elephant, rhino, buffalo and leopard are easily spotted while on a safari. While on a tour in Kenya you will see numerous National Parks and reserves, the most visited being the Masai Mara. Many documentaries about wildlife have also been shot in these National parks and reserves over the years.

Beautiful landscapes are all around ranging from the Great Rift Valley with its many escarpments, savannah in the south, deserts in the North, to Lake Victoria in the West, tropical beaches in the east and the snow capped Mount Kenya. Fossils found in the country date more than 20 million years ago and the East Africa region is commonly referred to as the cradle of mankind.

One of the greatest spectacles to behold is the wildebeest migration which occurs every year in the Masai Mara. The promise of rain brings more than 1.3 million Wildebeest together into a single massive herd. This has been described as one of the most spectacular and breathtaking experience. Together with the Zebra and over 300,000 gazelles, the herd begins the life and death struggle of crossing the Mara River which is full of hungry crocodiles. For a truly unique view of the spectacular wilderness, a balloon safari offers an incredible experience.

While on a visit to Kenya, it is important to be vaccinated against some of the common tropical diseases such as Malaria which spreads through mosquito bites. Hospitability is exotic from the coastal resorts such as the Norfolk, the Aberdare Country club and the Mount Kenya safari just to name a few. The food in Kenya is as diverse as the many cultures that make up this country. Ugali (maize meal cake) being the staple food is usually taken with vegetables and stews. Nyama Choma (mutton, goat or beef roasted over glowing hot charcoal) is a typical Kenyan experience.
